Newsflash
While you are out viewing this extraordinary event from nature. I must unfortunately ask you to wear a helmet at all times.

You see apparently there is yet another rogue satellite and the Boys out at sea are going to shoot it down with a missile.

Only they haven't said when they are shooting it down

or where it is going to land..

But heck who cares really. I mean the operation of shooting it down is only going to cost the taxpayer between 40 and 60
oh that is million ..
yup 60 Million dollars US
Imagine how many people that could feed for a year

and the fuel load is apparantely highly toxic, so make sure you take your tin foil hat and lead lined sneakers.

and if you see it

DUCK
One last thing..
The Russians and Chinese are pissed. They are crying "missile test"

Aren't all missiles tests?
Yup that one worked
Nope that failed

So when you see something going flying past the eclipsed moon.

Its not ET.. Its a rogue rocket
Australia and other nations are on alert for falling debris as the US prepares an attempt to shoot down an out-of-control spy satellite as early as tomorrow.CNN reported a US warship would fire a missile to bring down the satellite safely in the northern Pacific Ocean.

and this one coutesy of Nurse Ratchet.
Those
looking into the western sky -- in the right spot -- from Hawaii may be
able to see the satellite's demise, but it's unlikely viewers will be
treated to the spectacular light show witnessed by those on the Pacific
Island of Fiji when the Russian space station Mir streaked across the
sky during its fiery re-entry in 2001.
Officials have told CNN the
shootdown carries a $40 million to $60 million price tag. The missile
alone costs $10 million, Lt. Gen. Carter Ham told reporters.President
Bush made the decision to shoot the satellite down after consulting
with several government and military officials and aerospace experts,
Jeffrey said earlier in February

So in honor of tonights eclipse which I think is what is sending everyone all "lunarlike" around here. I thought I would do an eclipse blog.
I love eclipses
First here is two little poems I wrote about 15 years ago now.
Yes it is a bit harsh but it was how I was feeling at the time. The nun is spelt right, it is a play on the hebrew NUN = Scorpio. In the second Poem Skye is a play on the birht place of my maternal ancestors.
The Macleod Clan of the Isle of Skye in Scotland
Well my friends the time has come
The moon has finally caught the sun
"eclipsed" they said, the job is done
Fire and water unite it is the time of one
So I think it is time that you run
faster and faster you are under the gun
with lies and hate you thought you had won
bad luck for you it is the time of nun.

Eclipse
Once upon a bright lit planet
Shining brightly in the Skye
Beaming down reflected light
from night there way up high
The mirror spins in all its glory
capturing within the sparkling sun
it turns the image round and round
sending it back down the line to nun
For a light that begins upon it's journey
Encounters mirrors on its way
though they said they are the light
it may yet be a cloudy day
As above as so below
or so they said to me
but as long as there is north and south
For every he there must be a she.
==============================
and this little poem I wrote just a couple of months ago.
I turned the light off in the kitchen one night and I was holding my three year old daughter Kahleah Celeste in my arms, admiring the full moon that was rising straight outside the window.

Kahleah Celeste means "Clear Bright Heavens"
I laughed my head off and we then seriously discussed how I could put the moon in the corner of her room so that it wouldn't get dark and the scary shadows would go away. So my baby girl and the rising full November moon inspired this simple little children's night time poem just wrote.

can you put the moon in my room
it is bright and shiny and full of light
can you put the moon in my room
It is hanging out there in the coldest night
The glow of a beacon that turns dark into bright
With a blue ring halo that is such a delight
surrounded by flickers of colours competing in fight
a meteor streaks across, in a fast flash of white
Oh look there's a spaceship on a galactic flight
I wonder at the heavens and the universal might
it scares me a little, I hold threadbear real tight
Can you put the moon in my room mum
can you put the moon in my room
It will banish the shadows and give me sight
can you put the moon in my room

Hope you enjoy Nature's Slideshow
and last but not least
on this special Moon Night
